Spraying a chrome frame ?
Gish:
Was thinking of spraying my chrome frame guys
When you look at it closely you can see small speckles of rust/oxidisation where it has been stored in garage and damp/cold got to it
I have tried the coke/tinfoil & also polished with peek but you can still see it when looking up closely
Would this be feasible or not
andypatt444:
You'll be lucky if the paint sticks. You will probably need to powder coat it.
rodriguez:
Take it to a chromers and get what chrome is left removed leaving it bare metal apparently most will do it for £10-20.
That Swan Guy:
de chrome is the only way, I had a seat post done for £4 and it took 3 days turnaround as there is no polishing to do.
your paint or powder WILL peel off if you don't :daumenhoch:

I even roughed up a set of bars down to the nickel, painted them with etch primer and a top coat which took me over a couple of days, they were as smooth as a babies bottom.
Fitted them on the bike along with the grips and levers and they looked great :daumenhoch:, overnight the temp changed in my conservatory and the paint was on the floor in sheets the next morning :tickedoff:
