I didn't think it mattered what side of the spider the ring went.
I thought it was what ever gave the best chain alignment. :-[

There is that but most rings, discs and spiders have grooves in them for the bolts to seat in. Mixing a Sugino ring with a Tuf Neck disc means you have to put the ring on backwards or else it won't seat correctly. It's generally Sugino that is the odd way round.

Very nice Dan. The black/chrome colour scheme is my favourite of the 3 colour combinations.
