3 hours of planishing and needle file work and it still looks shite.  :LolLolLolLol:
At least the bubble gum seam welds are gone now. Hopefully the other lugs won't put up as much of a struggle

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

They are brazed and my first thought was to try and remove them. After a chat with Phil I decided against it as the heat needed to release the joints is alot great than it is to braze. The extra steel should add a bit more strength too

After measuring every conceivable angle, length and diameter i went in big time with the angle grinder. Those with a nervous disposition or children present look away now

So it turns out paint stripper does work.... you just have to leave it overnight then resaturate it with another coat  ::)

Anyway time to do something about those bubble gum welds and weld spatter. These things really were thrown together  ;D

Before

After..... ALOT of grinding

Almost ready for some wet or dry and a bit of polishing  :daumenhoch:

Got bored grinding away with my dremel  ;) on the drops so went back to the head tube today. Another lunch hour gone she is almost there and well pleased with the results given how badly flaired the fork end was  :daumenhoch:

No. It all got knocked back round a solid steel rod the same diameter as the inside of the head tube. I bought a planishing hammer to do it properely.
Took a while, but coaxed it back a treat  :daumenhoch:

Yeah, because someone had been running round on it with no bearings the leading 5-6mm funneled out like the end of a trumpet
