Shimano DX seatpost info please?

factory pilot:
Was talking to Joff the other day and we couldn't decide on whether  DX posts came painted ( the colour block at the top ) or if this was a decal. I know Del does replacement decals but we're they originally a painted on block ( enamel paint ? )
Anyone got an OG one who can confirm either way or anyone got any info?

That's what i thought , defo not a sticker but i wasn't sure whether it was somehow annodised on or my guess was some sort of screen printing  :-\
