GT Tour 2 resto
stickman:
Ok bit of an update. Not managed to get a whole lot done this weekend :( but did get a bit more stripped off and gave the stripped side a very quick rub down. On the bright side i did manage to get the freewheel off and strip the back wheel. I also managed to dig out a primo brake lever, odyssey u brake and an old gt seat.
Some of the parts i had ordered arrived too Freewheel, Alex rims and Snafu gyro (a bit new skool but i like it).
Also had a bit of a result finding a matching left hand lever which i was so happy about but the happiness didnt last too long as i forgot the bars are super thick aaaaarghhhh! So a lot of filing later and the right hand one is nearly there but i will now have to do the other too when it arrives.
I am going to give the chrome a bath 2moz will take before and afters of that.
stickman:
Ok so i gave the chrome a bath got some pics before and afters. Its come up ok all i wanted was to get the rust off as im painting em anyway which has worked a treat. The cranks arms havent got much chrome left so they are gonna need a good prep before paint and the rest i gave a quick clean removing as much rust as i could find but will be going over them again. Was wondering if its worth using a rust treatment on the pitted areas to ensure there is no rust under there before painting?
deeman:
seems a shame to paint over that chrome now...they came up a treat! :-\
stickman:
Well it looks better than it is on the pics its noticeably pitted in some areas just didn't show up in the pic.
stickman:
Heres some pics of the chrome close up. Cant see that ever being any good.....
Also ive added some preliminary artwork of the decals im working on as i cant seem to find them anywhere, they still need work isnt easy as i havent got any decent photos to work from but im getting there.
