When You're Planning A Build, Do Any Of You...
factory pilot:
For my latest build (83 quad ) I've looked on here, the museum, google images and oldschoolmags.com to get a sense of factory specs, era correctness and what balance of coloures/parts works best :daumenhoch:
As always the research on a build and making the right decisions is half the fun :daumenhoch:
Mikku:
I'm not sure I specifically look at other bikes for inspiration, as I've got a fairly good idea of what I want to do in my head, but I definitely look at other bikes to see what the combination of parts and colours actually looks like when built. Not sure that makes sense but I get it! :crazy2:
Jaan:
Most of my builds come from memory, old articles and photos.
The problem I find with a lot (not all) modern builds is that they're faddish - you certainly find that on FB. One person promotes something as desirable and then every wally is wanting the same part irregardless of suitability.
But, to answer your question Dan, I don't often look at bikes in the museum sections for inspiration but I do look at them to feel good, kinda like looking at the pictures in a deck of Trumps as a kid :)

X2 Jay, exactly what I used to do when I built o/s bikes :daumenhoch:
Tbh I didn't even know there was a museum on here :uglystupid2:

Don't really plan a build. Just happens. Just know what I like👍
