Polishing off blistered/flaking chrome.........can you?
Taipan:
I have a chrome DC seat clamp that was originally chrome finish, its blistering/flaking off......so my question is? can I polish it back/strip it off etc as apart from that its a nice clamp :daumenhoch:

Think you will struggle to get all the chrome plate off it by polishing or sanding etc , you need to get it professionally stripped and then you should be able to polish it up. Shouldn't cost you too much to get a seat clamp stripped ;) :daumenhoch:

thx who do I send it to?
PS Ady will know :)

Depends who you use/how large the item is/and how quick you want it back. I used a place near Oldham for stripping a few items - cost £10 to strip a seat post and a set of forks. Unfortunately it took them about 4 months to do it! I use Leigh Metal Polishers now - they're spot on :4_17_5:
