Haro Mirra 540 Air - restoration
Dogfish:
I managed to get a bit of garage time this weekend made some good progress ...
After taking the wire wheel to the bars they looked good without paint so decided to polish rather than re paint with the chain stays polished and the bottom wheel mount of the forks polished it will look good .. if for any reason I don't like it I can key the metal and paint in the future ... will also polish the seat post ...
Come up ok using the "mops" on the drill I will finish on a bench polisher when I go round my mates workshop ...

Next up after the dust settle get a clear coat on the frame this was a bit of a nightmare the paint would not come out right seemed to either go on to thin and look satin or go on and leave runs ... maybe the heat causing to paint to dry to quick the results were not good left it over night in the morning went over the frame with 1200 to 2000 wet and dry to get the curtains out ... gave it a blow over but ran out before I could finish the whole frame ... looks ok but will need flatting back and a final clear coat ...

Starting on the seat post and cranks today ...
The bike is going to look really nice so I have decided to get all the bolts etc re chromed or plated it will not cost the earth and will really finish the bike ... I use a chap in Bristol called Nick from "Reality Motor Works" he has done all the plating and coating for my Motorbike restorations does top work ...
Off to custom Riders this week to get all the new parts ...
Cheers
Paul

I did manage to get a reasonable clear coat on the frame still needs a bit of cutting back here and there but looks a whole lot better than it did ... the trick with Halfords clear coat is warm the can but spray in a cool place as the paint dries quick ...
