Professional Polishing - Jad stem

Hi

I have just bought one of the re-issued Jad stems and its raw and unpolished, I was to have it professional polished to get it mirror shine, like a brand new 1990 PK Ripper ....... as shine as I can get it was autosol and duraglit its no substitute for a professional polish. Can anyone recommend anyone ? someone who knows what they are doing and won't polish the Jad logo engraving on it ?

Hi Mate not sure where you are based if you can get the stem to me I have a morning at my mates workshop polishing a load of bits ..

I have a set of "kneesaver" bars with a nice Haro logo engraved which I will keep ...

horses for courses I guess but personally I hate the polished mirrored shine finish, just doesn't look real to me.

Leave it au natural dude, it's probably the last original finish one left.

You should be able to achieve a mirror finish with the equipment you have, the prep work is probably at fault. you need to first wet sand the stem with wet n dry to smooth out all the casting marks taking care not to rub the stamp out!!. Work up the grades til you reach P1200 or so,Starting with a P320 or upwards...Then polish with Autosol and a lot of elbow grease.....Then crack a beer  and admire yoyur work! I used to be a fan of the highly polished look when I first got back into the hobby but prefer original and untouched these days....your bike, your choice  :daumenhoch:
