Diamondback Silver Streak build FINISHED 27/12/16
rooski:
Welcome to my build thread.
I acquired this DB along with an 83 Viper earlier this year.
Like the other bikes it had bee languishing in a shed for some time and was looking a little worse for wear :(
A photo of the Viper for reference...
The aim was to do a light resto, and get the right parts on the right bike,as some of the SS bits were on the Viper and the forks had been swapped for Landing Gear Lites...........
Although this has an august 82 frame number, this is an 83 spec bike, as 83 models would have been released late 82, so I went for an 83ish spec. :)
Firstly both the Viper and SS were stripped down and the parts, frames, forks etc given a citric acid bath.
This is how the F+f, bars etc came out.
There was a lot of pitting around the bb, which I could do nothing about, the bars came out mint.:)
The wheels had also been cleaned up dings were removed, spokes cleaned and the rims shine sided(most of the anodising had worn off anyway).
Although MKS BM-10 pedals were fitted, I chose to use the SR MP-132'S that were residing on the Viper.
These are stock pedals for a Pro-Star, obvious connection there, and their only difference to SS pedals (SR MP-134) is the cut outs and stamping, the pedal body is indentical.
The cages were bent as is common on this type of pedal, they are removable, so a tool was made to get them back into shape.
That's it for now, it's almost complete, just need to take some final pics and do a full spec sheet, thanks for looking! :)
