QUADROPHENIA:

Rear drop outs 14mm Steve ?  Reckon I could fancy one of them

Spen69:
I do love a decent retro as long as it's properly newschool with good geometry and not just a copy of the 70's or 80's original, so this looks a really great project Steve. I am curious about how an AD rear caliper would sit though as not only do the lugs look too close to the bend but where would the cable pulling direction come from? They might be better mounting it on the lower rear stay like the late 80's version and use a modern low mount AD brake to still allow a small gearing to clear it?

I'm only asking as i've just set up my AD996 Hombre and they only work with bit of a frig on the cable direction to pull as the top rear stays are a low angle on most newschool frames.

Looks good though and will give a lot of fans a great riding bike i'm sure :daumenhoch:

fugazi:
I like the idea of it & it looks cool :daumenhoch: but I wonder if it will end up cracking/bending behind the top of the seatpost/platform junction like a lot of them did.

stevesredvxr:
Yep 14mm rear drops 😏

Spen that's exactly what we said about putting the brake mounts on the lower stay. He had real problems designing onto the upper.
I think it would be better too....like I said it's just a prototype and nothing's set in stone. He is listening to the comments and criticisms.

oldtired:
was going to say it's mid bb and comment on the brake lugs aswell so that's my input sorted  :LolLolLolLol:

chain stay has to be the best place for the brake, easy enough to raise or lower the stay to allow clearence for ns gearing

underneath causes it's own problems if your grinding/doing stalls,  seen a few old ones with lugs bent or snapped off,

perhaps built in tensioners too ?
