Have bag, will travel (in Japan)!!

(1/1)

Mikku:
I've been meaning to get a bike bag for a while, as you can't take bikes on Japanese trains without one. The normal ones are made for road bikes but I recently found out that Tioga made a BMX-specific one, so picked mine up yesterday:-

This should give you a better idea of what it is:-

& this is what it actually looks like with a Crupi race bike inside:-

I don't think Tioga had in mind a Pro XL racing frameset when they designed it because it was a bloody tight fit! I took the pedals off to make life easier and then took it on its maiden outing today! I got some bloody odd looks along the way but it worked, so job's a good'un! :daumenhoch:

So presumably bikes need to be covered to prevent dirt/oil/bike parts coming into contact with people and the train itself  ???

oldschoolace:
Top buy Mick!

The bag issue was a serious impediment on our box jaunts the first year I went to see our kid. We still got about loads but were restricted to where we could physically ride to and back in a day. 3 bags seemed a bit of an extravagance for 12 days  :(

MartyC:
That's awesome!

Yes mate, that's it in a nutshell! It's still a bloody mission taking it on the train, as you're taking up the standing space of 3 people, more so in rush hour, but you'd have to be an idiot to attempt that!! Today I travelled mid-morning and mid-afternoon - 75 minutes on 3 trains - and it wasn't too bad standing at the very back or very front of the train. :daumenhoch:
