I did think that, this Torker i'm building ain't gonna be shown at MK or anything like that, so you could be right... just annoying these dark patches though ;D

You could try the dishwasher method, but i've always been cautious of it as you can't control gentle/powerful the cleaning process will be. When i clean tyres using the bath,hot water,nail brush and washing up liquid method, i'm sweating like a bastard after 10 minutes. If you're not, then you need to give it some more welly. Keep renewing the water, and keep renewing the brush (i go through 2-3 to do a pair of tyres). There's only so mich you can clean them up though. 30 years of ground in dirt and dryness is hard to eliminate completely
