Posting to the US via USPS?

Anyone done this?
Need to post some rims, Royal mail want £40 but its only £21 with USPS. Am i right in thinking once it lands in the US royal mail hand it over to USPS anyway?

USPS parcels come via Royal Mail so i guess it's vice versa. ???

That was my thought Nick. Seems daft paying royal mail nearly twice as much when you are essentially using the same people?  ???

Just to give you an example of recent shipping times Clint.... Package posted last Friday to Northern California,Royal Mail tracked,arrived today. Pretty fast.
