Wire wheels advice please

(1/3) > >>

Bounderandcad:
Hello
While I’m saving my pennies to complete my frame, I need some advice on a few sets that are strong enough to be able to cope with freestyle use.
Consider large clumsy oath riding with choices please  :)
Mags are obvious choice but wire does look nice..just so many nice looking sets on fleabay and shops..don’t know what are just for race use etc.
Any ideas for me to have a look at please
Thank you

To be honest most standard 36hole 1.75" rims laced nice and tight with a set of more modern tryes pumped up to around 65-85psi will handle your clumsiest riding as it was shitty old school tyres that could only handle 35psi that were the main culprit.

48hole rims and hubs were heavy and not really needed once the tyre technology improved. They belong on midschool tanks tbh

If you get a set built up to ride then I would buy some more modern twin-wall rims like Alienation or something but you need to decide what you want to use the bike for really.

Oldschool = show pony or pub-crawl or out with your kids :coolsmiley:
Newschool = actual riding like trails or skateparks :daumenhoch:

Ok..thank you for taking your time to reply

If you need advice on the ‘clumsiest riding’, then Spen is your man.
