Oil works well as a dissolver of stickeyness - rub cooking oil on and let it soak, this is why WD40/penetration oil (not that type ;))works.

Finish with Meths or my favourite IPA (no not that type either)

Can I have a left sock?

Always found WD40 worked well

Took me 2 days, an insane amount of kitchen towel, white spirit & a wrecked pair of gloves, turned into glue mitts, to get the residue off mine. And that was on a repop frame.
