86 World Tour
That Swan Guy:
In 1986 GT released the World Tour. It was the top of the range bike above the Performer and the Pro Performer. Whilst the frame sets were fundamentally the same, it was the components that set them apart. Dripping in GT, SR and DC parts they were listed in the 1986 catalogue available in the the following colours:
Pink
Lavender
Blue
White
Green
Chrome.
Yes dayglo did appear in 86 but it was towards the end of year and coincided with the name change from Workd Tour to Freestyle Tour after a wee legal battle!
So as some of you know I have a pink, lavender, white and green in this model and the chase was on to complete the set. I do have a ratty blue Freestyle Tour filling the blue gap.....for now!
However the chrome was proving extremely elusive, until out of the blue one popped up on US eBay. But! But he wouldn’t ship to the UK! In stepped the hero of the hour. Rad member Blackiepaul had offered to help out some months, ok a lot of months, earlier if the occasion arose. This was that occasion!
The frame set was won and Paul did his magic.
Now in my charge it was time to inspect.
The seller hadn’t been 100% with his description and his well taken photos. The front left fork leg had a nasty scar and the pitting was far worse than described! Otherwise it was solid.
A lot of deliberation and consideration to whether a full rechrome was needed. No! The OG chrome deserves a second chance! So here it is!

Very nice Nick. Looking forward to seeing this one. 👌
That Swan Guy:
As it took a few weeks to get it back to the UK I had time to collect the right parts. As always I already had one or two! Lol
