Also found it on here.....https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=583505 where it mentions it's the dating for pre 83 products (before the wheel/clock style with arrows).

Even trying to work it out via that is baffling me!, mine looks to have between five and seven dots around the lower number row (1980/1982?), but I can't find a pattern amongst the ones in the chart!!  ::) :D ;D :-[ :-\ :crazy2: :idiot2:

Top row is the year so apparently it’s the last number to have a dot above it, so 84 not 85 as I posted before. Although I’ve read that this date code system was used up to 1983? Number of dots around the numbers on the lower row determines the month although it’s really hard to see how many dots are round each one.
