*** We Were Rad book project ready to roll ***
oldschoolace:
Hey guys.
Over the last 3 years Ant (factory pilot) Andy (dancetothedrummersbeat) and myself have compiled over 10,000 unseen images and interviews from all over the BMX world including Martin Apajio, Tommy Brackens, Andy Ruffell, Maurice Meyer, Craig Schofield and a host of others as well as editors/contributors from the leading magazines from the era with a view to releasing the greatest BMX book ever!
The ethos of the book is to tell the story of BMX from the average joe on the street. Ramps in their back gardens, hanging around parks, wheelies in the street etc. and how the larger bmx world influenced them including chapters on music, fashion, shops and media.
It has been a massive labour of love but we have amassed a huge archive on BMX and are in the midst of compiling chapters with a view to launching our book early new year.
The book is primarily about British BMX and we think most of you guys would be interested, the photos we have alone are phenominal and all have never been seen before. We also have loads of cool insights and revealing conversations with the great and good of BMX
Once the book is out we plan to follow up with a massive exhibition of BMX ephemera, film, photos etc aswell as applying for long term funding for an archive. We are painfully aware that as every year passes, we lose legends, photos get lost or destroyed, stories forgotten and important relics lost forever.
We thinks its easy to underestimate the impact BMX had back then and are keen to save as much as we can for future generations.
We humbly invite you to check us out on facebook : https://m.facebook.com/groups/161890204418162

We are super stoked that our huge project is nearly ready to roll and we think you will enjoy the RAD emersion in BMX as much as we have these last 3 years :)
