What's the best way of cleaning old Tan Wall tyres?

Hi all. I have some old Kuwahara tyres on this Toy Store ET and I want to clean them up a bit more, the tan walls are dark! I've used a nail brush, CIF and some Fairy and it's helped but they still could do with a bit more cleaning. What else can I use?
