The spacer that goes between the bearings is about 4 times as long as that. It sits between the bearings when they are in the frame to stop them crushing together when the crank arms are tightened up. You can use an old seat post or handlebars cut to the right length, but you need to get a good straight, square cut so it sits well against the inside of the bearing.

Rinni sells the sleeves. I think it's the right one. I bought a spindle (complete) and it's perfect. Cheap too.

dont tighten the pinch bolts too much. they are very weak
