My max bid was about 30 so I certainly didn't push things up that much.  :LolLolLolLol:

Thought I was going to get a bargain for a while at itwas at a fiver for a while.

I know mate - it's no problem, I was happy to pay what I did even with the work that had to be done. And I'm glad the guy got what it was worth - he was a really nice fella.

I was obliged to keep schtumm on this one, and I too was shocked at the end price. Thought it'd probably go for around £50 if someone else with a well-trained eye had picked up on it.
Did anyone go for the 16mm axle wheels?

Oh, well done.
What's the deal with them? The two restoration Condors I've seen on here have both had the 16mm axles. Were they a team item?
Was this a team-issue bike? Wouldn't mind knowing some of its history.

Hia Wayne - I think it's just coincidence.

I believe people started going for 16mm axles in the search for ultimate strength.

Both this frame and Fuzzy's one were owned by competing riders, so chances are they were both hardcore and heavy on parts. The guy who we picked the frame up from said his mate was forever breaking parts, so he made his own...look at the headset and the hubs aparently made by him.

I'm looking forward to finding out more history about it. There were competition tags on the bars which were with the frame (Phil won them in another auction from the same guy), they read: KOC Custom Riders, KOC Red Bull and KOC 99. That's all the info I have at the moment, but am going to have a chat with the seller tonight to see if I can glean a bit more. Oh, I also know that it was owned by the same guy from 92 through to 2003 and he rode it constantly - he only changed frame when he won a new one in a comp in 2003.

The seller was really pleased that it was going to be restored and was going to let it's previous owner know - he now lives in Canada. So, no doubt we can get to the bottom of it's full history.

Should be a fun project.

Thanks Rory - yeah I thought they would be perfect for this when I saw it on the bay, but it turned out to be a 92 so they are like the ones I have already repro'd for Fuzzy Mark.

Sweeeet.

Yeah, it was a bit weird...they were the first batch, would have shipped together, we're then ridden all their lives by one person, competed on, comps won on and then left in a garage for 3 years before being re-discovered - then ending up with some old git!

Oooo spooky...  :D

Hey Dude a little less of the Git if you please. :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :2gunsfiring_v1:
Well done and welcome to a fairly exclusive club. Love those super forks and stem by the way.  :smitten:

Little Update.

Just noticed on the stem that the back of the top plate has been ground down to allow for clearance of that massive headset when run upsidedown (he had the stem upsidedown on the bars)...shame. And acording to YGT's superfork guide, they are Gen 2 superforks, US made.

They were fecking excellent fish n chips.

The funny thing was, we were driving down the seafront and Pete was going..."oooo, ooo, there's an italian ice cream shop down here on the right", "there's a fish n chips shop down that road", "there's a big pie shop on the corner in half a mile time"...

He plots the whole damn country by his stomach!!!

Apparently he did. And YGT Mark has just been on to Dan to say that the headset and hubs are by a small UK company called Rekka...well I think I may have found some evidence to support that:

Sticker on the top tube reads 'Equipped by Rekka Engineered Like a Brick Shithouse'

Headset:

And got the seat post out!

They are on my Big Daddy, but I`ll only let them go if the right forks come up for that, so if you can find a set of ramp room made Big Daddy forks then they`re yours  :daumenhoch:
