This BMX lark is getting stressful !

I have been involved in Historic Kart racing for a while now and the situation is the same. There are a few people who have managed to stash loads of stuff and being a newcomer it's pretty difficult finding it now. Good luck to them though really as they could have ended up with a garage full of scrap if things hadn't taken off in the way they have done.
It does make it extra sweet when you grab a bargain from under their noses off ebay though.  ;)

its all still out there and waiting to be found

maybe a few old shop inventorys are still sitting somewhere

and for sure loads of old bikes are somewhere

so boot fairs , tips and sheds are the way forward

Its like all collectables , the first few years see the NOS stuff being bought , then it turns into something else and the repro stuff starts to appear , then the arse falls out of it for a few years then it picks up , so who knows whats around the corner?

MK07 for sure LOL

There's a few people starting to sell up on here, is this the start of the arse falling out ?????

I'm not sure, times are hard, you get a few unexpected Bills, and you have to sell your stash, I think prices WILL rise for the foreseeable future, prices have risen consistantly since I got into this game, I have only been back into old school BMX for 18 months, and I have bought some real cheap stuff compared to todays market pricing.

I used to collect Football Memorabilia, I bought 6 old Adidas Tango Football's about 10 years ago, I paid nearly nothing, £5 to £10 a pop, I made nearly £3000 on them last year, one selling for £750 another 2 for £500 each !!

Yesterday junk is today's bounty, but as we get older, I'm 38 this year, the interest may fade, and who's gonna replace us ?? Tower Bridge mate !!

WIll we still be here when we're 50 !?? Who knows, collecting maybe, but riding..eerrm  ;D

You made £3000 bugger i'm going in the loft to find all my old footballs.  :LolLolLolLol:

Its like any hobby , why are you here , why do you collect ?

If as some have obviously done is to collect and then fall out of love with it, then yes thier arse has fallen out of it, but we seem to be growing , the prices are still on thew way up and thier seems to be no lack of willing buyers to soak up the stuff that is being sold

so in general it seems that the hobby is on the up , my thoughts are that its got a few years untill the bubble " may burst " but that only helps the comitted collector , who will buy the cheaper stuff cos they want the bits no matter what everyone else is doing

fashion and cool have a part to play , as this hobby seems to be pretty cool and fasionable and will get more so this year with the exposure we will get and the  upturn in BMX as a whole

I hope that we see a downturn soon , as i can snap up parts for low money and continue collecting

but its nice to know that what we do is not just a few , but many

I only wanted to build a bmx for nostalgic reasons,of what i had back in the day,i now have nearly enough for 3,i didn't start because it was in. Come on i wan't some Pro class cranks.  :LolLolLolLol:

brass monkey!:
it would be nice if the prices 'soften' a bit, otherwise a lot of us will be priced out of the market,

I am going to have to sell some more Football Stuff, I have loads, I have fallen out of love with the 'beautiful' Game, but fortunately the masses haven't including the collectors,.............................. ;)
