just bought some double pinch redline cranks what is the purpose of the 52.6mm sleeve for the bb spindle wont it damage the bearings if it is to long? and the bearing cover caps are different one is thicker and more curved which side does this go on? thanks :knuppel2:l

animal:
Thin one goes on the drive side, but sometimes you need to replace it with the thinner spacers instead to get the chain to line up correctly ok.

The sleeve is there to protect the bearings, it stops the cranks crushing in the bearings when they are tightened up, it shouldn't be too long as the US BB is a standard size so it should be a nice snug fit  :daumenhoch:

marty, the only thing that remains the same in us bb's is the dia.

the width does vary....

so if the tube is a little long it may req cutting down
put it in tho, it does stop the bearings squashing inwards
