I have just fitted my headset to my TA forks. The forks werent long enough to fit the chrome washer (that says : LOOSE PROOF MECHANISM MODEL NO.LP440).  Well pissed off cos i like the look of it with that on.  Anyway around this??

I know it may sound stupid , but have you took the other locking washer off ?

Mind you though , how come you can't get both on ? You only need a few threads for the lock to work so i can't understand how it won't go on  :-\ because if the lock ring is right at the top of the threads i think there is summat  seriously wrong somewhere  ???

are you certain the forks haven't been cut down at any point??

and the bb races are the right way round IE not upside down

if you can get your hands on some lo profile bearing races you should be ok.
