preparing parts for painting

right stripped some parts ready for super bike dan to powder coat so thought id show you how to do it if you dont already know how.

1st step: get a litre tin of nitromors this should cost from 5-10 pounds, paintbrush i used a 25mm but youcould use bigger/smaller depending on your preference about £2 for a decent one, fine grade wet and dry paper i used 400 grit about 50pence per sheet you will need at least two sheets for a frame, a paint scraper/chizle or similar and wire brushes.

2nd step: pour some nitromors into the plastic lid provided with your nitromors, dab it on the bike part using the brush; be generous with it(remember dabs not strokes), do one tube at a time to keep things simple; leave for a few minuites the paint should now have bubbled up, this will now be easy to scrape off. some paint is harder to get off than others but thenitromors will soften it if it doesnt peel it off; in this case you just need to do more scrapeing.



once you havestripped the majourity off of the frame you can get into the little bits youleft behindwith the wire brushes, theese are extra handy in welds and tight areas.

step 3: once you have stripped the frame of all its paint run it under water to clean off any remains of nitromors/stripped paint; dry it and its time for sanding, a fine grade paper is best to ensure a smooth surface(but keyed for the paint to grip), work all over the frame doing one tube at a time, ensuring that it has a slight shine to it for the best finish; you could get it looking like aluminium but this is no good for painting.

great stuff nitromors, bloody burns when you get it on your arms .... if you get it on your face wash it immediately because it stings like f**k
