Why did BMX die ????????????????????????????????????????

I thought it died when mountain bikes came out... i never liked /wanted or owned a mtb and didn't get my first bmx which i'd always wanted untill mtbs had just come out!! But in a way the mtb craze eventually died out and bmxs once again became the cool bike to own ...i also notice nowadays even "old" guys n gals can get away with riding them in the streets and no one bats an eye lid or thinks "your a bit old to be riding that" lol
I dont think skateboards had anything to do with it either as they've always been around , plus me and my friends had them aswell as bmx's anyway.

for me, around 84 my manager and owner wanted me to turn pro racing,
i just couldn't see it, how could i earn a living riding a bike that i rode
every week :crazy2:
anyway got a job working on cars and used to just ride my bike and practice my tricks in
break time then one day i felt emberrased to ride a bike,
thought everyone was looking at me for the wrong reasons so
that was it, bmx, game over :'( >:(

I quit bmx for breakdancing in 85, and this was the same for most of the kids around my way. I tried to do both for a while, but in the end breakdancing took over. I'm not saying breakdancing killed bmx, but it certainly didn't help.

Mcdonalds,when i was a kid mcdonalds was a treat now kids have em every day,just look at all the fet kids about do you think they really want to go out on a bike?
Nintendo,why go out when you can do all the things you would have done sat in front of a tv!,we made camps played soldiers,made bows an arrows,and rode bmx all day long!
Nonces,because of them people are to scared to let there kids stay out late or go to the park on there own,or even ride to other parts of town to meet there mates!
Its a whole new world to when we were kids,full of fast foods and disposable lifestyles an i for one think thats really quite sad.
