Somebody please help - back wheel making a clicking noise
Waxintaxin:
oil your freewheel
you never know , it might be a bit of grit or something, flush it out with oil and see what happens
jimwise68:
Rich, tried to get the cover off the freewheel last night, but that wont even budge. :knuppel2:
It doesn't sound like grit, it is too clunky rather than grindy(?), it is also far too rhythmic and only really happens when I put some power down too.

Rhys, took it to a shop and they had the same freewheel remover as me, and couldn't get it off either.
Marty, the bearings are sealed. I have had the axle off and checked it and it all seems fine.
I need to get the freewheel off to change it and work out what it is from a process of elimination. It is not the chain as I tried a different rear wheel and it was fine.

Check the teeth on the freewheel to see if one or more is out of line or if the sprocket has too much movement on the freewheel body, a long process of elimination :-\
jimwise68:
i'll check it later Marty, good call.
snav69:
Jim , Check the sealed bearings mate. I have a clicking one on the drive side of my suntour . I think a couple of bearings have flat spotted,i popped the black cover off with a needle and gave them a blast with WD to clear the old grease and a few slap heads fell out (you know , looks like the top of a bald mans head fell off :2funny: ) so even though they are sealed they can still get fooked :tickedoff:.
