hub spindles

Vegan:
Can you use the bearing holder nuts (that attach to the axles) on any hub?

are they universal so long as they are correct TPI and axle size?

I have a pair of sunshine flip flop hubs but the only usable item is the hub itself - not either axle or associated bits!
