Getting Tyres on and off...
othomas2:
Just killed myself today fitting a tyre that was far too tight to get on.
Well once it was fitted somewhere along the line I punctured the inner tube. :(
Also some bloody fingers and scratched rims.
So... I was wondering if I took some 16" rims and tyres to halfords or other bike shop, would they be able to fit/change my tyres with ease ?? Would they have some type of machinery to do it ?
Reckon they'd charge me a fair bit for doing this ??
General advice needed please.
thanks in advance.

Hello mate, what are you using to get the tyres on/off with? Plastic tyre levers (3) are the way foward dude, as far as Halfords are concerned, for legal reasons I would NEVER say the thay are a bunch of useless mother fookers that wouldnt know harris from their elbow. :LolLolLolLol:
Dingobmxer:
get one side of the tyre fully on, inner tube in with a small amount of air in it, start to push other bead in and push BOTH beads in to the centre of the rim this gives a little more room on the opposite side of the tyre, for really tight tyres rub some fairy liquid around the bead before you start :daumenhoch:
:) DINGO :)

Hi there, I'm removed plenty of tyres before without any problems... and I also use plastic tyre levers, which today decided to snap on me. ::)
These are mega tight... I've now given up on it and seeking help.
I only ask about halfords as they have removed freewheels for me for free so was hoping to get a similar deal with the tyres.
Maybe I should go to a ye olde bike shop instead ??
Sorry I know this all sounds pathetic. :'(

Tried using lube and those other techniques mentioned... but still took me about 2 hours to get 1 tyre on and punctured the tube. :LolLolLolLol:
