Redline Proline II
kowalski:
no mate, im pretty much out of funds at the mo, have been hitting the plastic heavy recently and have just dropped the cranks and chainwheel off at the chromers so the spending is over for a bit, unless a bargain comes up!
will be going for v bars hoping for a nos set maybe the small redlines in chrome, or slightly bigger set of wins ? must be chrome
redline fluted post( if they actually exist!!! i reckon they r just a rumour)
black kashi aero
black stem, pro or tuff neck (did consider a forklifter but its just all wrong)
black mx 1000 preferably maybe just rear
tyres unsure any tips gav?
grips unsure too possibly ame's
pedals also unsure
also my bloody prolite is up in my flat at the mo and every time i look at i start thinking of changing something, its never ending....i think i need some kind of bmx counciling ;)
GREMLIN:
It looks like a nice parts spec you'll end up with there. ;)
Def got to be just a rear calliper as far as i'm concerned. I was going with an Mx1000, but am leaning towards a D.c 1020 now. :)
This is the 1st build of mine that i've not even considered having a brake up front. I can't say i recall seeing any members pics with one either. ???
As for tyres. I always go with Comp III's. But there's plenty of types to choose from.
Ame tri's are nice grips. I have them on a couple of builds already, and that's what i'll be going with for the Proline.
I'm the same as you, wanting a tuf/pro neck stem. The rest of the build has to be basically spot on as original. Brute stem are out there readily available...
Yet we want to put an out of place stem on? Cool >:D
I'm really looking forward to these builds (and any other members who decide to take the plunge) coming together. :smitten:
A little Pl20 family ;D G.
Frosty:
Kowalski,
Knarler Knobbie tyres were oem on the later carrera's, but any era correct tyres will be fine.
Here's a pic of the redline fluted post, the other one is a tange version that looks very similar but as you can see is not as long, this could be an easier option to get first.
GREMLIN:
I've seen the spec sheets/adverts etc showing the Knarler Knobbies on the Carreras. I never actually used a set of them.
Are they up to much ?
Reading through old specs for the same era PL's for Stu thomson etc. The Knobbies had been swapped with Comp III's.
I have an original fluted post also, that will be going away for a rechrome. So i may pick one of the Tange items up for now too. :) G.
DR VINOAH:
i got no complaints bout the knarler knobbies
they work fine for me,
and i raced on them to a :4_17_5:
i have always presumed ,and although comp 3,s were very popular then (everyone and their granny used em)
that the magazines in question run the comps coz of the full page ads and the money
ploughed in to fund the said mags thru advertising
plus test rider preference must come into the equation
if you catch ma drift say ................wahey :)
