Stem Shafts Sizes ?

<< < (2/2)

brass monkey!:
thanks Gents, I have learnt something today !  :)

animal:
I to have had this problem, tuff neck stem was tight in landing gear forks but lose in my MRD forks, cut up a carling can and used in as a shim  :LolLolLolLol: Didn't realise there are different sizes, just thought MRD forks were a duff size as had the same problem bitd. Does that mean all stems come in a metric and imperial fitment?

--- Quote from: S&MAlex on June 28, 2007, 12:58 PM ---There are 2 main shafted stem sizes.

BMX (USA)          21.1mm
"MTB" (Euro?)    22.2mm

Most shafted BMX stems are 21.1mm but some BMX style stems are/were avalable in 22.2 (ie Sugino and SR).

Hope that helps.
