one of my better investments 20 odd years ago was a sugino crank puller. that thing has got me (and others) out of the jammed crank arm scenario many times. the neat thing about it is it will do 2 jobs. one end has the socket for removing the nut/bolt and turn it around and it becomes the puller. remember too not all sockets will fit into the hole where the nut/bolt lives. best of all NO HAMMER DENTS
the boiling water idea is a great one, i've never heard that one before. i take it the alloy arm expands more than the steel spindle  :daumenhoch:

Dingobmxer:
Use a crank puller DONT hit them
Dont you have a crank puller for your MTB Craig? That should be the same size  :daumenhoch:
 :) DINGO :)
