Harry Leary Turbo
Frosty:
Kevin,
I'm not surprised mate, but certainly worth an ask for 1st dib dobs.
The bars and cranks are especially nice to see on an HL, that little bit different from the pack. The decals, have certainly aged but as you say in mid 80's would have looked good along with mullets and farah's ;D
get the bars dropped into the oxalic acid bath and they will come up nice and sweet (it is also safe for the decals - just eats the rust).

Thanks for all the positive comments, thought you all might like a bit more history and why I changed certain things (and an explanation for the high seat and rubbish decals)
Got the bike brand new in '85 (ish) and raced it to Scottish No1 in seasons '85 (15 y/0) and '86 (16 y/0) so am a wee bit attached to it.
The original turbo cranks snapped within 6 weeks of getting the bike. All it took was jumping off a kerb and the crank side cracked at the pedal weld. No probs with the profiles though, I think they look better than the turbo cranks anyway (oooo, controversial- I am sure that purists will disagree!) The cranks are 181mm length and I preferred a 45T chainring, pretty stiff to pedal but once you got going.... :daumenhoch:
The original bars were very wide and I preferred the feel and control of the star bars so the learys had to go!
The rear tyre was switched for a Grippa, again persanal preference, seemed to give more grip and has a great MX look!
It came with a Renthal seatpost, not sure why but it stayed. Also it is extra long for that Tim March look! Nah, the post is set at that height 'cause it makes it easier to hook onto the rafters in the garage.
As for the decals, they looked cool in the 80's, and yes they did go with the mullet!! :uglystupid2:
I have plans to refurd as seen and not to source the original parts, I want to keep it as true to the day I hung it in the old boys garage.
Not sure what to do with the F&F though - Strip and re-finish or keep as a survivor? The smoked chrome is great in places but pretty rough in others. Not sure if it would do the new decals justice!! What do you all think?
Thats all folks, I'll keep you all posted with pics and news as the build progresses. Might call on some expert help from time to time also.
Finally, and before you all doze off, thought you all might like to see my original Zeroinine moto control number plate with T&C stickers...not seen any on here.... :)
