Axle / dropout conundrum

I have a set of wheels that I can't get into the front dropouts because the axle is slightly too big for the gap (the gap tapers then gets bigger to where the axle sits when inserted fully, see example below if I haven't explained it adequately). I know some wheels have flat sides on the axles so you can align them up and slide them in. These don't.

Any thoughts on how to get them in apart from brute force and ignorance, please?

A lot of people just didnt worry about it, they just let their 10mm axles sit in the top of that oversized hole. 

Otherwise you looking for Some 14mm flatsided axles.  From memory I only recall Peregrine doing some of those and they had issues with the wheel nuts stripping coz there wasn't enough thread to grab onto.

One other solution would be to have a couple of top hat axle converters and fit them from the outside once your 10mm axle was in place. That would cure it completely, and hold the wheel centrally in that hole.    :)

ya need the 3/8th axles with flat sides and the tophat washers
i just used a grinder to to sort axles on me 85 master

yep 3/8 or 10mm axles flat sided with top hat washers,

was these forks made to go with skyways as the axles for the front of skyways are flat sided and come with top hat washers but not the rears?
