Gen 2 Profile Spider

i have two profile spiders,both have different i.d's but both are larger than the profile 2nd gen spindle!

Looks like the answer to my original question is that you always have to shim the spiders, unless somebody knows different.

IT WORKS A TREAT, I DONE IT LAST WEEK

i had a spider that was from a one piece crank

and the top hats from both size -whatever they are to 19mm spindle

-the small one was too small , the large too large

-I simply enlarged the spider to take the larger top hat washer to 19mm

-with a pair of tapered pliers as a reamer

-very true! -plus you can get it really tight :LolLolLolLol:
