stem/ headset novice question

ok here is tonites novice question, the forks for my bike have a threaded 1 inch diameter top shaft. do i just need any old school 1 inch type headset? will i need to get a specialist to press this in for me? also, ive noticed stems advertised for sale with and without the wedge, are these different types of stem, or just some with the wedge missing? any advice would be cool.  the bike is a peugeout, i think the model is 401. cheers.

Hi,

Any old skool headset should fit.

To fit the cups, its best to use a vice. hammers and bits of wood have been used, also large washers and a thick bolt with nuts on each end, then tighten away. I'd recommend the vice option.

Stems - are you confusing new skool with old skool. Old skool need a wedge
