Anyone know the bolt size for tapered 3 piece crank spindles -Maxy Cross etc?

Some bell end in US sent me a GT, bullshitted me about the date it was sent for a month ( a month later I had the automated thing from paypal saying he'd printed off my address label! dick..) Anyhoo, that's a different story.....he'd taken off the cranks and forgot to put the bolts in. Anyone know what size I'd need to try a hardware store for a replacement?
