Redline / Sugino 400 Crank BB question

Does a standard Sugino BB axle say off a Maxy cross etc fit the Redline/Sugino 400 crank arms??
I know Vert-ego is doing repro 400 axles but they are big money!

no they dont, the 400s had a 4 degree taper on the spindle. you are stuffed without it!
