this is what my expert look like when it came from the us ..... just found this in my old emails :)
kdw712:
wow £40 - frickin bargain
inside, was that a trimoly frame or all tubes ?
it gets very messy with this
my understanding is : (deep breath and go )
in the US they had the pro class, the supergoose, the expert, the californian
pro class and supergoose (US Spec) both had same outside diameter tubing - ie chunky, pro class was thinned wall so much lighter
the cali and expert were a right mixed bag, the expert i owned was an 1984 and was all tubes frame but the rest of spec was all steel
the cali was a tri moly frame but better spec'd - eh go figure ::)
i believe the expert dropped down the list and became entry level later while the cali improved (all tubes etc)
i'm not sure if theres a diff in the two frames in terms of geom' and stuff but it def gets grey and fuzzy with these two from 83 - 85 ish
in the UK we had pro class, UK spec supergoose (see monster thread elsewhere)
which was a all tubes version of either the expert or cali - having a single hole brake bridge and thin rear stays
and the cali & grand prix
mongoose seemed to chop and change all over the place
but bottom line is if its a US spec supergoose it more than likely will be a chunky tube model
i'm gonna go lay down now as my head hurts :D
