14lbs is 7 kg's or so, which for a cruiser f+f won't be too bad a weight if it is in a heavy duty box, some are quite hefty!

The import duty is one thing you can avoid legitimately, but it is the vat that is getting more difficult to avoid. The vat is charged on the declared value of the goods plus the shipping costs.

Bear in mind if something is labeled as a gift with value below £36 then the insured value will match that - not worth the risk in my view of  loosing the goods!!
