Spraying DIY

Swivel:
Ok interested in having a go at this for my ultra burner bars which are being stripped right now. I'm going to spray these Gold but can anyone recommend the best way to approach this, what steps to take and also the best spray cans to purchase in Halfords?

Can's I've seen in halfords are:

* Hammerite Smooth Finish Metal Paint
* Plasti-kote Super Enamel
* Plasti-kote Fast Dry Enamel

Wasn't sure whether this Plasti-kote would stick well to the primer or not?

Any advice would be useful, thanks  :daumenhoch:

poolysheriff:
I have used Plasti-kote gloss on a frame n forks
Went on very well ,
I did use the primer first on the bare metal ,

I just sprayed it at my mates garage (hung up)
Sprayed it let it dry ,sprayed it let it dry etc
Till the tin was empty  :LolLolLolLol:

Don't spray too much on at once and make sure the frames not freezing cold either  :daumenhoch:

I will send you a pic of the 1 i did  ;)
Not bad at all for about a tenner  :LolLolLolLol:

Gary..

dwain dibbly:
this time a year keep where your spraying warm.
primer, then 1200 or 1500grit wet flat,
 paint then wet flat again keep repeating paint and flat
until your happy.
remember though paint is the last step of a long process.
PREP IS EVERYTHING!!

spesh:
why not use halfords paint instead of plasticote as youve already primered it anyway

Swivel:
Thanks for your tips here. The chrome is being stripped off the bars right now, then I need to rub them down and ensure all the nickel is gone and then start the priming process. I'll do the prime, then wet dry, then prime again and wet dry to ensure its really smooth and silky before I add on the plasti-kote paint. Gary, wouldn't mind seeing a photo of your frame and how that turned out dude  :daumenhoch:
