Repairing Pitting in Frame before Chroming
CD17:
Ok I have a Gen 1 which I am now getting ready to get Chromed & there is some Pitting on some bits of the frame, all the Chrome has been taken off, so its just bare metal.
How is the best way to repair this, I was thinking of cleaning the pitting out & fill the hole with a welder & then smooth it off, I don't want to rub it right back because some of the pitts are quite deep & I may wear all the tube away :(
lazychubs:
yep weld or gett em to copper plate first then polish out the blemish's
garethgeezer:
Yep all good. Depends on how much you want to pay for the chroming though. Some places will copper plate before the nickel/chrome process, that way they can polish to perfection before plating, but it costs more.

Can you use chemical metal to fill and rub down does anyone know or will it play up with the chroming process.
CD17:
I did think of this & it would be easier, but I would not like to chance it.
I have been told I can use Silver Solder, which Im going to try :)
