can someone explain how i tell if ive got a 3 piece or 1 piece crank pls

looking at getting some pedas for my bmx but there are 2 sizes available . and me being totally new to the bmx world i dont know what size i need ??

it says 9/16 for 3 piece crank ??

how do i know if mine is 3 piece or 1 piece ??

probably a stupid question  but i dont know the answer lol

any one got a pic to help aswell ??? ???

This is a one piece takes 1/2" pedals.....



This is a 3 piece takes 9/16" pedals....




....thats it really one piece is one piece and three piece is three pieces!

BUT........... Why do the cranks take different size pedals. Anyone know?
