They where setting me up for a showdown with Chris Hoy on why his event was dropped in favour of bmx racing. Remember he is a gold medal winner in the kilo and medals mean funding.
Only thing is Chris is really cool and an ex bmxer himself and works with Jamie Staff, Shanaze etc. It was very positive and everyone on the show was into it.
More coverage coming soon.
moley:
Yeah, nice interview.
I'm looking forward to the Olympics.
I could never understand how velodrome cycling was included and BMX never was.
How many people have ever cycled in a velodrome? It can't be many and is therefore a niche sport.
BMX had a much wider appeal. Its just a shame that the bottom fell out of it in the Late 80'.
Plus BMX is much better to watch. Its quick and its got action and spills.
I don't understand the IOC dropping other events though.
Has anyone got any links to the track etc, etc?
mike pardon:
If you mean velo track cycling then i would try the BCF website at http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/web/site/BC/tra/track_latest_news.asp
This will keep you up to date on Shanaze's bid for another world championship in the womens team sprint
