Survivors
(1/1)
dannywhiteley:
Whats the definition of a survivor? What I mean is, if you buy an old used bike and strip it down, clean it and rebuild it using the original parts all cleaned and polished, is that a survivor?
Or does it have to stay untouched (just cleaned)?
When does it become restored?
Broggie:
when you spray or powdercoat the frame, rechrome the parts, that's restoring
when you clean it up, that's common sense and a survivor
When you fit new bits...that's cos they're worn out and it can still be a survivor as long as the heart of the bike is original.

My thoughts...
True survivor...
Cleaned up and useable survivor
dannywhiteley:
Yeah, thats what I thought really. I ask cos I bought a T/A recently and stripped it down for a good clean. From the original bike I bought, the bits I have re-used are the frame/forks, alloy hubbed Tuffs, seat, post, clamp and DK stem.
I replaced the bars with some survivor Performer bars, new grips, brakes, pedals and crank. IMO its still a survivor as the main bits (f/f and wheels) are original, just been cleaned.
