First Time in years...
Timmeh:
YeeeHaarrrrr!!!
Went t'local skate park t'other day (Mon eve) on my old school ride...what a laugh I had, I was crap, had wobbly disco leg more than once and ended up nursing the bike home with a loose BB. Did a couple of what I thought were foot-plants, but I'm sure they looked like I had a severe wind/ gout attack... Brakes need a tweak and my pedals are slippery when dry. Other than that, I need more time down there just to get riding. WoooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooooo!!! :D
Luckily for me there were no stipey-topped Russell Bwand teenmonkeys there...although I passed a couple on my way down on their 'new school bikey-wikes', tch! They looked at me and muttered 'shuffle munsterer'...So in my best victorian Brigadier's accent i said 'How do you do?' It must have been the black socks with my checerboard vans, clearly a fashion faux-pas in this up and coming rural market town in North Yorkshire... :LolLolLolLol:
There wasn't anyone else there so it was all quiet, apart from 5-a-side footy games nextdoor. Haven't been back since as now got random flu/ cough/ throat ache with malaise and Mrs Timmeh is keeping bed ridden (oo-er missuss!).
Defo off back...need to sort a 2nd bike as you can't have too many BMXs!!
As an aside, how do 'wobblers' like me fit into the big parks with more skilled riders; do we get in your way? Are we given a 'nursery' 1/2 pipe + ramp?
It's at least 19yrs since I did any 'proper' BMXing, so now I'm old(er) with 2 knee ops and an ankle with as much stability as a bag of Lego (all on same leg!), I can sense how careful I'm being; but then I think 'f@ck it, get some air!'
:Great_Britain: :D :Great_Britain:
HEYWOOD BMX:
:) You`re older and wiser....you have right of way anywhere you want! Seriously, most "proper"BMXers, even if they are young are usually pretty OK.
pickle:
from my experience, if you're riding and looking like you're trying....the youngsters and other older skilled riders will give you the respect and space in the park....it's when you turn up and sit on your bike all session and don't ride that they think you;re a twonk.
but when i've been at the local park on my street beat all the kids wanted a go and thought it was well cool! they all said can you do a backflip and can you do a tailwhip? once they's had a go on the beat they then realised it wasn't quite as easy as on a new school bike! :LolLolLolLol: and respect was sent my way for my jumping and 360 pulling! :daumenhoch:

Presumably this respect has now disappeared since you turned up on your Proclaimer and still couldn't flip or whip. :LolLolLolLol:
pickle:
