obviously the mistake is 5 spoke 7 spoke thing,
with regard to 17" rims. you'll actually find he is correct on this matter. a standard 20" wheeled bike will have a rim diameter of roughly 17". the rest being made up by the tyre!
go check if you don't believe

I thought this might be the case as i hit the post button.... yer right i went and checked
Dunces hat for me.... :-[
meticulous:
but if you measure your 17in rims on your car you will find out they are actually 18 or 19in, the 17in measurment is taken from the tyre seat area :P
jackel:
:D :D bloody ell its right :D :D
right off to order some 17" compe 3s :2funny:
Philbert:
but we're talking bikes not cars!
you and me are in the same industry dude! cars use a different philosophy on tyre/wheel measurement. when it comes to cars you by a 17" inch rim and tyres to fit, or 18" inch rim with tyres to fit. it's the masses who say they've got 17" wheels because they're uneducated on the subject or just that they're terminology is wrong!
