Used Wurth gasket/sealant remover and washed off with a high pressure washer at work, then used a tool at work that has disc attacments like scouring pads, although it spins at something like upto  15000rpm.
Then for the went over it with a flexible sanding block, feels about 100/120 grit, to end up with this finish. Planning on painting it white.
