MONGOOSE VINYL PADS DIFFERENCES ?

Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this one - I've noticed that on the old late 70's early 80's vinyl goose pads sometimes they have the "TM" trademark symbol after the mongoose logo and sometimes they have the "R" in a circle registered trademark symbol - did they change as time went by or is this a UK / USA thing ?
